cherish the mess
embrace your jagged edges
bear your infinite tenderness
allow that everything is complex
intensity is how you know you’re alive
We crawl on steps of glass over grass that break as we go. The buzzing is all around, it sounds like it is coming from inside my head, from inside. Everybody’s eyes are like saucers and there is one guy in the corner laughing hysterically, great whooping breaths exploding in cackles. He keeps saying “calipers calipers calipers” until the word doesn’t mean anything any more. Another girl is dancing with glowsticks wrapped around her tiny arms, like a deep sea jellyfish, lost in the music. Later on, the laughing guy takes the glowsticks from her limp wrists and breaks them open, drinking them, grinning maniacally with fluorescent teeth, it looks like acid dripping from his mouth to burn away the world. When he pukes, you know you’ll never see anything like that again. You and me? We are just lying there, keen for experience, raw eyeballs. The party explodes. We are somewhat in the way. Wait… you weren’t there, were you?
plutonic undertow raking you across the gravel,
wine red desire seeps into dark water,
every bruise a treasure,
each scrape its own reward.
